Several insurance companies in Nigeria retain the firm.  We are advisers on claim proposals and also defend insurance claims.  Our experience in insurance related matters dates back to the 1960s.  We assist our retained insurance companies; to review their day-to-day contracts and agreements and assist them in generally every area they might need us.  In some of the companies we do Secretarial Services for their board meetings and annual general meetings.  Our principal Chief Idowu Sofola, S.A.N. who was also a director of NEM Insurance Plc, oversees the division.

We also do a lot of banking and finance matters.  We work for several banks and assist them with the drafting and reviewing of mortgage agreements and perfection of the said mortgage, floating charges etc.  We also have an aggressive debt recovery unit to recover debts owed to the banks.  We advise our clients on financial matters relating to government regulations and policy and on matters relating to finance and banking in Nigeria.  A. B. Osiyemi Esq. who in fact was Deputy General Manger of Societe Generale Bank here in Nigeria before he retired into private practice with Idowu Sofola & Co heads this division.

In the growing business market in Nigeria we have taken the trouble to offer professional services in commercial and company law.  We incorporate companies, obtain business permits, and expatriate quotas and all other matters, incidental to establishing and maintaining business concerns in Nigeria.  The Lagos Office of the Corporate Affairs Commission is in Elephant Cement House, the same building as our principal place of business. To make our work easier we are presently negotiating to open a branch office in Abuja, the Federal Capital of Nigeria.

The Securities and Exchange Commission also registered us as legal operators.  We  participate as legal consultants in the capital market. Our Olusina Sofola Esq. who holds a Masters Degree in Company Law supervises this area of law.

We engage in the buying and selling of property all over Nigeria.  We however do not limit our services to this; we also manage premises for some of our clients.  We assist them in getting new tenants for their properties, collecting rent, and ejecting tenants as and when it becomes necessary.  We also have clients who require our professional services in the perfecting of their ownership documents of land.  This is very important in Nigeria and in particular in Lagos where a purchaser has to take special steps and efforts to ensure that the property he has bought is not sold to another person.   Our proximity to the Lands and Housing Department, Alausa certainly assist us.  We of course also handle land related litigation matters. 

We handle all aspects of contracts law from litigation arising from disagreement in contracts to actual drafting of contracts and agreements.  To enhance our services we have invested a lot on latest and up to date precedent books.  We are also available to negotiate on behalf of our clients if professional services are required.  Contract law services we believe is now particularly important especially in today's Global market.  This area is overseen by our O. A. Adebambo Esq. who is also currently taking final steps to qualify as a Solicitor in the U.K. 

We have vast experience in litigation in the State High Courts, Federal High Court, the National Industrial Court, several Tribunals including the Failed Bank Tribunal, Miscellaneous offences Tribunal, the Court of Appeal all over the country and even the Supreme Court.  We have been involved in several important litigations and take pride in our extensive law library that makes our job easier.  In an attempt to make our services better we have even set to computalise our law library.  We have also placed our offices strategically to cover litigation in all parts of Nigeria.  Hence an office in Lagos to cover Lagos.  Ikenne, Ogun State to cover the Western Region, an office in Port Harcourt, Rivers State to cover the Eastern in general and the oil areas of the Niger Delta in particular and soon an office in Abuja to cover the Federal Capital and the North.

Our principal is also a member of the London Court of International Arbitration and together with our Olusina Sofola, oversees this division.

We have over the years dealt with tort cases including trespass, defamation, occupier's liability and negligence.  Whereas some of these matters are resolved amicably amongst the parties some are taken to the law courts for adjudication.  Whatever is the case we are competent in the area.
